Why isn’t my brain working?

I am often asked to recommend books. One of my favourite books is “Why isn’t my brain working?” by Dr. Datis Kharrazian. I am lucky enough to have completed his Comprehensive Functional Medicine Programme and to have learned from him how to implement the strategies he describes in this book in my clinic.

The body is a complex web with a personalised approach being the most likely to achieve optimal health and well-being. Diet and lifestyle factors have a massive role to play here.

Are you troubled by:

  • difficulty focusing at work?

  • having to write everything down?

  • an inability to remember some events?

  • struggling to make and keep plans?

If so, sleep deprivation, blood glucose dysregulation, inflammation, impaired circulation, anaemia and/or impaired thyroid function may be at play and should be considered.

If you are concerned about your future brain health due to a family history of a neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer’s Disease, it may help to know that recent research suggests that there are 104 modifiable factors associated with the development of Alzheimer’s Disease. There are many diet and lifestyle interventions which may be deployed to support brain health. Why not start now?
